Personal assessment
To calculate the tax payable under personal assessment for the year 2019/20, you may select your marital status and input the total income and other information in the tax computation for your estimated tax liability.
Hong Kong’s Financial Secretary, Paul Chan, has presented the 2020/21 Budget to the Legislative Council on 26 February 2020 which put the focus on "supporting enterprises, safeguarding jobs, stimulating the economy and relieving people's burden"
The 2020/21 budget
To ease the financial burden and cash flow of businesses and individuals arising from COVID-19, the Chief Executive announced on April 8 a series of relief measures, including the automatic extension of deadlines by three months for payment of tax for the year of assessment 2018/19 that will be falling due in April to June this year.
The IRD announced that it will issue property tax returns and employer's returns for the year of assessment 2019-20 on April 1. Profits tax returns and tax returns for individuals for the same year of assessment will be issued on May 4 and June 1 respectively. Taxpayers and employers are generally required to file their returns within one month from the date of issue of the relevant return.
